5/21/07 05:21 pm - Updates still on Hiatus

It's been nearly a year folks. You have no idea how sorry I am. While I feel as though I'm just taking up space here on ComicGenesis I do have something to say. I'm still not giving up on this project. I wanted to do this one page at a time, but now I've figured out that in order to tell this story and still have a military life, I'm going to have to hash it all out slowly. I've begun working on story boards and outlines for the first and second parts of my story, it seems I've got it figured to several parts plus a standalone chronicle somewhere in the middle.

I'm not going to make a schedule for the beginnings of the comic's release yet. I probably won't start until I've figured out some more ways to do it. Changes will be made, and the pages that are already up will probably be taken down and archived somewhere else.

My last post here was to inform people I was going to Vegas, ironic that this post comes FROM vegas as I am once again TDY here. My resources have increased and I'm still adding to my arsenal of artistic media. Most of which will tie into my comic eventually one way or another. My new laptop is slowly changing into a mobile art studio and may become the source of my comics at one point or another.

Cross your fingers for me, if my other projects turn out to be successful, you will start to see changes being made to this site. As for their nature, it will remain top secret, but I will tell you this. When SVM goes active once again, I hope that it won't be simply a web comic, but an experience.

7/30/06 03:00 am - Brotherly Kick In The Head

Alright, it has been a long time since my last post. Once again I must say that I'm sorry you must endure such a lack of story. Even with my erratic story telling style here that's even throwing me some problems keeping up, I must say please be patient with me, I'm not going to give up on this even if it takes me the rest of my life.

Now, some problems that have arisen:
1. Hard Drive failed- I can't access my old archives and that means if I ever need to print out high quality versions of a panel...I'd have to recreate the entire panel.
2. Work schedual change- Starting in the afternoon and getting home around midnight burns me out. I can't think strait normally! How do you think it is at one in the morning? And writing or drawing after waking up living in a room withour airconditioning, just ain't happening.
3. Most recently - stress - Stress from work and from trying to get my brother situated in Job Corps. has takin it's toll and I've just started to recover.

Good news: Look forward to updates in my photobuck for bonus Save vs. Magic sketches.
Bad news: Going TDY on the fifth of August for two weeks. Definatly no updates.
Good news2: I'll probably be sketching a lot while on TDY
Bad news2: I'm going to Los Vegas...Distractions could ensue

Anyways, please bare with me ,and ,JD ,If you are reading this, good luck bro, and stay out of trouble. PLEASE!

5/5/06 11:35 am - E-Dent E Cute?

Whew! Since I lost my templates for making the comics' backgrounds I had to recreate a new one as close to the original as I could...that was a pain. Oh well, here we go again. I hope I can keep up with one a week. I hope we don't have a lot to do this weekend on base or I'll be working overtime again, not that it would really slow down comic progress all that much.

I noticed that I still have a lot of my sketches, so I may be able to redesign a lot of the older comics later on. The problem will be that I have a tendency to experiment. Almost every sketch I do is done differently. It can be raw and cleaned up on the computer, penciled and trace with velum, or blue penciled first, darkened with graphite and remove the blue in scanning. I need to find a rhythm soon.

5/1/06 01:16 pm - Turning gears...need oil

Well, alright I'm getting situated once again. please forgive my little filler up there of the World Shield, I recreated it in 3D and I still getting use to fixing it up. I never liked that every time I drew it it would turn out funky, now I have a model and we hopefully won't have that problem any more. A few more adjustments will be needed but this will do for now.

As for the reason for the long hiatus. I'm sorry, I had a lot of work and personal problems to deal with, and I'm still dealing with these issues. Now I have some time to put together pages again.

3/4/06 01:14 pm - Hi-ate-us = E-Ville

Once again, I haven't updated. No big surprize, I know.

I really, Really, REALLY wan't to do this. But It will have to be when I can and no solid update shedule until my life becomes much less complicated. This project may be slow going, but I won't give up. In fact I'm signing on some help for a few aspects. hopefully it will lead to some great production.

2/10/06 09:31 pm - Slight Changes

Well, I'm slowly getting the hang of the basics of HTML it seems. I've made a few subtle changes in the layout of the site as well as adding placeholder sites for future use. On the main page I've added a button for E-mailing me at my hotmail account. And on the daily pages I've taken off the title/author text and added a second set of forward/backward buttons for fast browsing with minimal scrolling.

Keeping the layout simple for both modem users and for my sanity.

Sorry for the lack of updates on my lil' blog here. I'll try to be more informative.

Future Plans:
Character Pages
Guide and map to my World(yet to be named officially!)
Extra Art Section(To replace my photobucket Link)
Links page for other comic sites I'm into.
Forums (free hosting from ComicGenesis)
Chat room(no idea where to start there yet)

See you ‘round!

1/1/06 11:37 am - Happy Chrisma-Hunnu-Kwanza-Ka!

No holiday special this year,
Sorry, but until I can get a regular schedule I don’t think I’ll be doing holiday comics. I don’t want the ratio of normal to holiday comics to even out. Anyway, It seems I’m still only getting out a page bi-weekly, I’ll try to put some more time into it. After such a busy holiday, I just feel like sitting in one place for a while. Hopefully that means more work on the comic. Uhg… and I still need to re-do the old ones.

Oh well Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Notice, I made no attempt this year at a “new years resolution”.

Not because I don’t want to improve, But because I have a wide range of this to improve on that just wont fit into one resol…res..oh crud I just made one didn’t I?

12/18/05 10:03 pm - Secret Santa Fan art!!!!!

As you can see I received a Secret Santa Fan Art from the awesome Ryan Kerns http://www.godmodeonline.com ! If the text up there isn't wrapping right, sorry, I'm trying to fix it, my HTML is rusty. Anyway, if you like the guest comic PLEASE drop ryan a line at him e-mail: rkerns@hawaii.edu and thank him! Also if you like great comics about gaming/games/and senseless mischief visit his site at (once again) http://www.godmodeonline.com!

Woot!

12/8/05 06:13 pm - Yay!

Update! Should be getting back on schedule. I Will work like crazy this weekend! I have the scripts planned already.
must...sleep.

12/1/05 12:51 am - Secret Santa

Hoo boy, Secret Santa fan art and guest comics are going to start being born all over Comic Genesis very soon. I can't wait to get my assignments. I also can't wait to get my stylus so that I can work on my stuff how I want to, I tried using my mouse today to go ahead and throw up another panel, but even I can't allow that to be posted, as bad as my stuff is. It won't stop me from sketching up fan art though.

oh and before I forget, a note to who ever gets assigned to me. Sorry, I don't have much to go on for you. I'll take anything!

11/28/05 01:58 pm - huh?wah?

Okay, dizzy tired and unable to function properly, I can't decide what I'm doing. I need to get things done but I can't concentrate on any thought for more than hey look a kitty...a few minutes. I tried to draw, can't keep the perspective strait. Can't play games because my mind keeps wondering off on thoughts about the story that are just weird and I end up staring off into space while brigands beat up my hero. I tried to read, Rincewind runs away...it's sad, but that actually makes sense. Now I've been writing a bit getting ideas and path of my story into black and white little by little...it's too long. If I go through with this, I'll take at least five years to complete assuming that I can accelerate as my skill improved and I keep my job at least long enough to start school.

Good lord, I read somewhere recently that tuition in the next eighteen years for a private university will be somewhere around four hundred thousand dollars.

I worked on "Defend" a bit wit my mouse. Fixed a few things so I could get strait to work once I find/get my stylus. For those unfamiliar with it the progress update has been loaded into my photobucket account under "Fantasy". I'm fixing the little girl up a bit, the digital inking didn't go very well for her face, foot, and arm. I hope everything turns out well.

aaaalllllrighty then...

Puh-E-sss

P.S. the reason I'm tired is that I got a call at ten-till-two in the morning to come into work. It shall be an early wake for me for the next two weeks...no karaoke...Image hosted by Photobucket.com

11/20/05 05:45 pm - Brick Wall

I have been searching my room like crazy and can find my stylus, without it I can't use my tablet. Can't paint, can't draw...this is bad, very bad. comics are going to be LATE!

...I'll have to make this up somehow...

CRUD!

11/18/05 08:15 pm - Weekend

This weekend's comic will late, good news is Monday's should be up on time!

11/7/05 06:07 am - Boo!

y'know...There's nothing like the ovewrwhelming joy of finishing a panel...and I have more ready...

muahahah...

9/29/05 09:56 am - Road Trip

Going down to Galveston Texas. Hope I get Relax a bit and just concentrate on things that don't cost 34.6 million dollars a year just to gas up. Maybe I'll get to read a book. Haven't read...well finished anything in months, so I'm lagging behind.

See ya'll around!
I'll post again when I get back.

9/1/05 03:20 pm - Not giving up.

So, I'm sitting here once again, trying to sketch out my thoughts onto paper. Unfortunately, thoughts other than those of the story I'm trying to tell keep shoving thier way through my mind.

1. My job's impending doom. Yes, folks, my skills as an electrician are seriously lacking to the point that I'm facing a review of whether or not I should be allowed to stay, retrain, be assigned a special duty assignment, or be total (and most likely permanently) discharged from the armed forces.

Personal note: $#@&!!!

2. My stack of expired scholarships I gave up for the USAF.

Personal note: DOUBLE %@%#!!!

3. The news of unrest and anarchy in New Orleans. People dieing in the street. Dumbasses shooting at rescuers. People with no regard for life except that of their own. Looters, terrorists, and backstabbers all poisoning the derelict city.

Killers.

I have been reading the personal accounts of a small group of people living in an apartment building. Surviving. Having to stand watches and patrol their area for those who would seek to harm them. They've even taken in a police officer who got separated from the rest of the still loyal force down there. It's too surreal. like a story from a disaster film; a nightmare brought to life. They have a generator going and have been using it the power a laptop and some other equipment in order to communicate with the rest of the world.

I've been watching the web cam he's set up. Eerie...

6/18/05 05:05 pm - Sluggish Updating

Wow...He updated...

Yeah, I did. And I hope to do so again next weekend. Just need to focus.

I am also working on creating a character page. It will update after characters are fully introduced in the story, and have some influence on the main characters. This may take a few chapters so no-one hold your breath. I probable won't be done with the first page before this chapter is over. Also, size of the pages may change for two reasons:

One: Although it gives a comic book feel and is popular with most comicbook style webcomics, it is a bit straining to have to scoll down to read. Some shrinking may occur, and possibly turning it into landscape style instead of portrait.

Two: If I start coloring, file size will be higher, like today's chapter 1 marker. It's only 98kb but that is still a little slow for dialup users.

However, the cons to both of these will mean lack of detail...

*Sigh*

The Artist in me wants to go the way of the higher quality webcomics out there and put up a big high quality pic that looks good. Then the story teller in me says that if people start reading all those pages from the beginning, only high speed connections will be able to browse through without the person reading being frusterated at long downloads.

If anyone has a comment, please leave one either in livejournal (rightclicking the link below and selecting open in new page is easiest, until I figure out how I'm gonna fix up this blog window), OR E-mail me at SVMKnight@hotmail.com .

thanks-
Aaron

6/7/05 09:54 pm - The end is near...

I take my End of Course Exam Friday.

*gulp*

If I pass, no more home study. YAY!

I'm almost done with the next panel. It and the next may be a tad bigger (bit wise) than usual...

...heh...Usual! Like I do this regularly, Right?

Seriously, I'm ticked at myself for not having much time committed to this project, and I need to commit some of my weekend time that I'm just hanging with friends to being more productive. I also need to get some structure with how these panels will be fleshed out. Jarii and Aurium, if you read this, we need a plan on how we get this written. I don't care if you throw ideas at me on post'its, we need to make some time for discussions over this.

The actual start of the story should be soon and will be noted as Chapter 1.

I can't wait.

5/13/05 04:47 pm - It's the weekend!

Sorta...

This weekend, I have duty, and at the same time I'm expected to be adjusting to midshift.

...oh joy...

So, in the spirit of (Insert lame reason here), I shall prevail in adjusting to two scheduals at ONCE!
...okay so you don't believe that. Fine. I'll be asking my supervisors for a day off to adjust.

In other news, it may seem like I'm not making any progress at all on the comic. Well thanks to some free time and freedom of thought this last week, I've been sketching up a storm.

Good news is: I'm making progress torward getting this train back on track.

Bad news is: I'm still having to study like a madman.

Ugly news it: I'm pooped...

5/3/05 05:23 pm - will work for sleep

I am so sorry that I couldn't come through with my last plan, my shop has been bouncing me around from shift to shift to the point that I can't think strait. Next week I switch from mid-shift to days again, then switch back the next week. I'm just so tired right now. I will be updating as soon as I can.
